Abstract
aim of this study is to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial attitude with entrepreneurial intention among students of Information Science and Knowledge Studies in Iranian public universities during the academic year 2024–2025. The study also analyzes the mediating role of entrepreneurial attitude in this relationship.
This research is quantitative and descriptive-analytical in nature. The statistical population includes students from public universities in Iran enrolled in the specified field. A combined sampling strategy was employed, integrating purposeful sampling to select students specifically from the target discipline and stratified proportional sampling to ensure balanced representation across selected universities based on estimated enrollment sizes.. Instrument validity was confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha and composite reliability. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and SmartPLS software, applying structural equation modeling (SEM).
Results indicate that students possess a desirable level of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and attitude, while their entrepreneurial intention remains moderate. Self-efficacy does not have a significant direct effect on intention but shows a meaningful indirect effect through attitude. Entrepreneurial attitude emerged as the strongest predictor of intention. Additionally, demographic variables such as gender and academic level significantly influenced intention, but not self-efficacy.
Entrepreneurial attitude plays a key mediating role in translating self-efficacy into intention. Enhancing positive attitudes and designing educational programs tailored to demographic characteristics can improve entrepreneurial outcomes.
Originality/Value: By focusing on a non-business discipline, this study contributes to entrepreneurship literature in higher education and offers practical insights for educators and policymakers.
