Abstract

Objective: The present study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the personal knowledge management of postgraduate students and to present the relevant model.
Method: This study used a qualitative approach and grounded theory method to develop a model of personal knowledge management of postgraduate students. The participant population consisted of 28 experts in the field of knowledge management and personal knowledge management. The method was purposive sampling and data were collected based on in-depth interviews. Data analysis was based on open, axial and selective coding level analysis and using MAXQDA software.
Findings: Data analysis showed that personal knowledge management consists of six dimensions and 27 categories. 27 dimensions were extracted, including: "Information identification, knowledge organization, technologies, skills, interaction, motivation, documentation of experiences, software, efficient system, culture, economic situation, educational background, development of guidelines, integration of personal knowledge management tools into university curricula, digital literacy training, creation of collaborative learning environments, improvement of productivity, increase of effectiveness, reduction of rework, improvement of quality of education and research, development of innovation and creativity, increase of cooperation and knowledge sharing, lack of time, inappropriate work environment, lack of motivation, unfamiliarity with methods, lack of trust."
Conclusion: Based on the presented model, for the successful establishment of personal knowledge management in universities, it is necessary to pay special attention to all the identified dimensions. Universities can improve the quality of education and research and increase student satisfaction by implementing correct policies.
